  • Prepare a Flood Plan.  Plan how you will ensure staff, visitors and animals are safe.  Make it clear to your visitors what the plan is and where they can get more information so they can play their part when required, rather than make it more difficult for you – especially consider visitors with disabilities or who are vulnerable in any way.

    Proceed to next step >
  • Communicate with your staff and visitors.  Tell them about your health and safety policy and Flood Plan and supply information on your website

  • Keep a stock of emergency supplies on the top floor e.g. torches, mobiles, clothes, food and water.  Basic first aid kits and first aid training should also be part of your preparatory strategy. If your business includes caring for animals, remember to keep a stock of emergency food and medicines for them too. You may also want to consider keeping a supply of batteries, walkie-talkies, mobile generators and suitable fuel.
